GrindingSteel.com has a foundation in family.
GrindingSteel.com was founded by Tim Ingram in 2013. The business was one of several ventures he oversaw at the time that included the manufacturing of a popular grinder and the operations of 8 Bit Technology (a provider of IT services in Fayetteville, NC). The business was acquired by Antonio Valcarcel in 2018. It was an opportunity to regain work-life balance following several years of military service, corporate rebounds, and graduate studies.
Within a year, sales grew by just over 100% as Antonio became involved with the Texas Knifemakers Guild and the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild. In 2020, GrindingSteel.com will expand its product selection in a variety of directions and launch a marketplace for products made by independent craftsmen from all over the world. Additionally, Antonio's passion for marketing and helping small businesses inspired digital marketing services structured exclusively for shop-based businesses.
Antonio is a graduate of Florida International University where he earned his B.A. in Theatre. He's worked in set design and construction in Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. In 2015, Antonio earned his Masters in Digital Marketing from Full Sail University. He's worked as a Digital Marketing Consultant since 2013, advising and managing online marketing assets for small businesses from around the country.
The vision for GrindingSteel.com is for it to be the one-stop place for everything makers need to make, and where makers meet their buyers.
